Recent engines, good radios.

Fast Cross-Country Transportation

At 12,000' you get 177 kts GPS ground speed at 20 gph. We flew this ship 800 hours over ten years. We sold our business and it doesn't fly much anymore.

Both engines have been recently majored. Props are McCauley 528 3 blades. Hangared at AUS - Austin, Texas. All logs.

Great way to travel: Climbs fast, cruises fast.

A look at N2901R

The canted tip tanks look great. The G models are often called "short-nose 310's." Chrome spinners. Color is tan, with red and gold stripes.

Sheet metal is straight. Glass is good, no windshield centerpost STC.

Easy to fly: no hydraulics, no cowl flaps, no complex placards on engine speeds.
White leather seats. Deep foam. Fold-up armrests. Comfy.
Two can sit here comfortably. There are belts for three.
Fuel injected IO-470-D engines. Lots of power. No cowl flaps to mess with. We normally climbed at 140 mph with about 1000 ft/min.
Pilot's panel. Two attitude indicators, one electric, one vacuum driven. Both overhauled in the last 6 years. The STEC autopilot flies the plane smoothly.
Engine gauges. Note the Shadin digital fuel totalizer and flow meter.
The new Garmin gear is recent. The Stormscope and XM Weather receiver are in the tail and feed the Garmin.
Two years ago, we saw that the metal in the muffler boxes looked tired so we replaced the metal. This will last for a long time.
The Garmin 430 which is slaved to the STEC autopilot. We kept the Collins radios because they are very reliable and the frequency read-outs are huge.
Inside the tail cone: metal is bright and shiny.
The fabulous Alcor EGT instrument. Each cylinder is monitored. You can easily set to peak temp. But, most importantly, you can see that all the cylinders are firing. We liked this instrument so much we asked Alcor to overhaul it four years ago. Keep the needles at the asterisk and the engines are happy.

The annual inspection in 2008. The exhaust ring was replaced along with new flap seals. The interior of the flaps in protected by zinc chromate paint.

The photo shows the inside of the in-nacelle exhaust. The muffler box has no cracks and the augmentor tubes are free of holes or cracks. The adaptor flanges fit tightly and are free of holes. This exhaust system works fine and also makes a really great sound - if you like Harleys, you will like the engine sound.
